For many people, spending time in Honolulu is enough without a summer of concerts to go along with the visit. But for those who do want to attend a concert—as well as for residents themselves—there are plenty of shows and concerts available in the area to attend. (And why wouldn’t there be? Musicians want to spend some time on the beach too, after all!) Here are a few resources to search through when booking your visit or making plans in Hawaii this summer.
808Shows: This site is a great place to learn about all of the big names coming to Hawaii throughout the summer months as well as during the rest of the year. From Toad the Wet Sprocket to Paramore, hard rock favorites and modern, widely known bands can be found at various venues throughout Hawaii at this site. If you’re more into comedy, you can find some acts here, too, such as The Wayans Brothers.
Hawaii Events Online: Though this website is more touristy than others, it has a good listing of local Hawaiian events and musical opportunities, such as cancer awareness concerts, “Chick Singer” nights, festivals, and many live bands that are playing throughout the Hawaiian islands. If you’re into punk, rock, hard rock, pop, or any other types of music, you may wish to start here to find more mainstream gigs as well as a few events geared toward locals. You can also search by type of event, such as if you are looking for something for families or singles, or if you’re looking for a specific event that includes a meal or dancing.
TiB Concerts: This site is helpful because you can search by specific locations, from Aiea to Wailuku and everywhere in between. If you already have a destination in place, or if you are from one of these areas, you can easily search for events and concerts in the nearby vicinity. It’s not a comprehensive listing, however, and many areas do not have anything listed when, obviously, there are many events taking place that are simply not listed yet.
Viator: While this travel site is more for booking events and trips than anything else, it does have some helpful search tools that can help you find just the musical activities you are looking for in Hawaii. Cruise activities, traditional luaus, and other adventures can be found here—as well as purchased as a part of a vacation package.
IGoUGo: If what you are looking for includes reviews of the activities available, you might want to start at this site. Not only does it highlight some of the most popular musical opportunities in Hawaii (such as the Honolulu Symphony or Hawaii Theater), it also lists several reviews to help you decide whether or not each activity is worth its cost and time.
If you are from Hawaii and have concert tips or websites where visitors can search for activities, feel free to post them here or reply to this post and add them below. Or, if you are a musical act or individual artist who would like to drum up some news about your next concert, post about that, too.
